As humans running is the most natural and evolutionary normal movemt for us! In actual fact some sources believe that thousands of years ago we would have covered 15-25 miles a day on our 2 legs! So running must be good for us then right!?? Well yes in short running does provide a great aerobic workout, will increase bone density in normal individuals and will tone and train the muscles :). However……too much running on hard surfaces especially concrete/Tarmac can put a lot of force through our joints and can lead to injury!
So what to do?? Well definitely include some jogging/running into your training routine with OTHER exercise and vary the surfaces you run on including grass and sand! And always most importantly listen to your body and seek professional advice before entering any new training programme
